Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools to provide them with an added bonus or to create a unique effect when they are in use. They can be obtained through crafting, purchased from vendors or the trading post, looted, or received as rewards. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Upgrade components fall into two categories - universal and type-restricted. Universal upgrades, such as gemstones, can be placed in any type of equipment, whereas type-restricted upgrades, such as inscriptions, must be placed in certain types of items to get their benefits.
The majority of upgrade components can be recovered from the equipment they are currently mounted in, however some can only be salvaged by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool. Ascended armor or legendary gear may contain upgrade components which can only be recovered with an Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrades that are already added to an item cannot be swapped out for an upgrade of the same type. Glyphs, however, can be swapped easily between collecting tools.
Glyphs can be replaced with other glyphs of the same type, and any upgraded item will display the name of both its original upgrade and the new one in the hover text. Inscriptions may add their own names to an item they modify. This can be seen when you right-click on the upgraded weapon.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to provide additional text features. They may be based on icons, or other symbols that are visually connected to the concept. However they can also represent abstract concepts. Glyphs are defined by Unicode, which assigns a code to each symbol, allowing them to be used in a variety of fonts. Certain glyphs have multiple forms, such as swashes and small caps. Some have a single form, for example, the capital letter A. The Glyphs panel comes with a search box that allows you to sort by the name of the symbol as well as its CID or GID, or its Unicode value. You can also use the context menu to create a brand new glyph or to modify the set of glyphs.
The context menu in the Glyphs Panel lets you select a font that will be used for the glyphs in the set. You can also choose to keep a font in mind with an added glyph. If a glyph has more than one font associated with it the Glyphs panel displays the fonts available in pink.
The glyph metrics in fonts can impact the layout of text. For example the glyph could have an advance width which is the amount of space it occupies from its starting point to the end of the font. The glyph might also have side bearings, which are white spaces on the left and right sides of a font. These side bearings are sometimes called kerning. They influence how the glyph is displayed in the document.
Glyphs may be upgraded in the Nightmare Dungeons at a Glyph Upgrade Altar. Each Nightmare Dungeon has a specific duration of time that must be completed, and after that the Glyph Upgrade altar will be revealed. The altar allows players to spend the Glyph XP they've earned by running the dungeon, and it will increase the number of the nearby Paragon Board nodes in its radius.
Each glyph comes with its own primary stat and secondary stat bonuses that can be added to the hero's total. These bonusses can assist you in deciding which glyphs to upgrade, and which ones to place on the Paragon Board.
Reroll tokens

Set Bonus

A set bonus is an additional effect that can be added to a piece of equipment. The effect can boost certain stats or abilities and can provide additional power or utility. There are many different set bonuses, and each has a particular effect it gives. These bonuses are unique to the piece of gear that grants them. Each set bonus also has a certain level that it grants, and this value is essential to consider when choosing the right gear for your character.
There are 15 bonuses available in Breath of Wild. Some of these effects are passive while others require players to trigger them. Some of these effects are linked to the armoring while others are tied to a mod or enhancement in the item. Contrary to the glyphs set bonuses don't reset when you upgrade your equipment.
You'll get a set bonus when you purchase new equipment. This may be a small boost in defense or damage. For instance, the Blood Mandate set provides a small cold and fire damage boost. However, you will only receive five copies of this set bonus per character.
Other set bonuses may protect you from certain types of enemies, or an increase in cooldowns. Certain sets of armor can even grant a boost to specific weapon type. Bone Weap for instance is a set of armor that blocks Stal from attacking and increases damage output with bone weapons. This is especially useful for hunters who like to make use of bon weapons.
Most players gravitate towards the set bonus that is the most suitable for their specific class. This is because they want to increase their performance and get the most out of their character. However, most of the set bonuses have different effects for each class and it can be difficult to figure out which one is best.
Certain of these set bonuses can be acquired through items called tokens, which are acquired by turning in an abundance of warzone praises at an operations vendor. They can also be taken away from bosses at Operations and other content, including dailies at level 75 weekly, heroics and weeklies.
